13.  The Very Latest on the Prince Investigation

According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, pills confiscated from Prince's Paisley Park compound were mislabeled as Oxycodone, when they were actually counterfeit fentanyl, which is the drug that the toxicology report indicated was the cause of death.  The lab reportedly analyzed "dozens" of pills found in his home.

The Tribune states that the musician weighed 112 lbs. at the time of his death.  It was previously reported that during the autopsy, he was weighed at 80 lbs.  Fans at his Atlanta concert, commented that he was very thin.

The quantity of fentanyl in his system was so great, that no one, no matter how much he weighed, could have survived the dosage.  The Tribune is quoted as saying he "had significantly more than a fatal dose of fentanyl in his system" and added that "investigators are leaning toward the theory that he took the pills without knowing they contained fentanyl.

An unusual bit of information being reported is that when the EMS found Prince's body in the elevator, he was wearing a shirt, pants and socks that were all on backwards and inside out.  What does that mean?

It is now being reported by the Chicago Tribune that when Prince's private plane made an emergency landing in Moline, IL, on the way home from Atlanta one week before his death, the paramedics had to give him two shots of Narcan while still on the tarmac in order to revive him before they took him to the hospital.  The paper also states that authorities found a prescription bottle in someone else's name that contained 10 oxycodone pills, but did not reveal who was listed on the prescription.

There is an ongoing investigation to try to determine where Prince got the counterfeit fentanyl, and they will be considering criminal charges when that has been determined.
